9 Tips And Lessons From Web Developers

It’s not easy to become web developer, especially considering how much you know about website building. You are not the only one interested in a career building websites.

What it means to become a web developer

We asked web developers who have been in this field for their advice. Here’s what they have to say, from what they’ve learned to the tips they want to share.

1. Be open to change

Coding has changed a lot since the beginning of my career. Many websites had limited functionality and scope when I first started. Responsive web design wasn’t part of the standard workflow. The back-end and front-end development were much simpler. The HTML table was the front-end. The backend could be static or run custom ASP/ backends. Mobile was never even considered. We must now make all frontend platforms responsive to adapt to every device. It is also important to ensure that all aspects of the website can be edited via the backend. This is why each project requires custom coding.

2. Always work in a team

Web Mechanix’s web developer, I assist our marketing team by setting up, testing, and troubleshooting tracking. Building landing pages, API integrations between CRMs and clients’ sites, and, most importantly, creating beautiful, responsive, conversion-driven, 100%-custom WordPress Websites that help our clients keep and get quality leads.

3. Improvement is essential

During my time working as a web developer, Single Sign-On Applications, User Pay Permissions, and how you can change every aspect of a site, right down to the color of a link, have been some of the things I’ve learned. I also know how to create a base template that I use for my web portals. I can then customize each brand’s pages to meet their brand standards. I am now able to improve my JavaScript skills and knowledge as well as Angular. I can now create custom, more complex applications for my clients.

4. Ask the dumb questions

Over the 15 years I have been a web developer, one thing that has stood out to me is that dumb questions are okay. The tech industry is constantly learning and new questions are always asked. It is important to be comfortable asking questions, regardless of whether the answer may seem obvious. Although it may sound surprising, I have found that Excel is a great tool to make your work easier.

5. Design skills are powerful.

As a web designer, I would love the opportunity to enhance my design skills. I rarely work on customer websites, where the designer creates a design and then the developer builds it. This would allow me to achieve my goal of becoming a full-stack developer. Right now, my focus is on Javascript front-end and server-side development. Although I still style almost daily, it is not as much as a developer who builds a new site from a design file.

6. Get to know your customers.

After many years of web development, I have concluded that the success of any project lies in the close and consistent communication between web developers and the extended web team or direct cooperation with customers.” It is because a lot of success depends on clear requirements clarification, especially functional ones, and careful consideration of third party APIs and dependencies with different systems.

7. Beyond just writing code

I have come to realize that Web Development and Software Development are more than writing code. While I am not denying that Java, Python and were important, so was JavaScript. To be successful, you must be a problem solver and a good learner. It is easy to translate a problem into code once you have solved it. A Web Developer must also be creative, collaborative, and communicate well.

8. Pay attention to the architecture

Architecture is the most difficult part of web development. You decide how new code will interact to existing elements. Your code must interact with the existing system without introducing new bugs or security holes so it can be easily modified or extended in the future. It is impossible to make mistakes with architecture. Once you have implemented it, it will be difficult to change.

9. Take into account accessibility

Globalization is a key requirement for web developers and web applications. We need to understand how to structure our applications to make them accessible to users around the globe. Web developers must be aware of how to implement accessible web applications and enable accessibility for users with disabilities.
